More than 1.6 million New Zealanders now have a KiwiSaver account.

Each of them is enrolled in one of over thirty KiwiSaver Scheme. Most people did not choose which Scheme they went into - they have been enrolled automatically in one of the five 'default' Funds. But you always have the option to switch Schemes or Funds.

Each Scheme gives you a choice of how you want your contributions invested, by offering various Funds.

Each Fund is managed by a Fund Manager who has investment objectives, guidelines and processes considered appropriate by the Scheme's promoters.

WHAT WE COVER

The resources in our Kiwisaver section enable you to ...

- get a clear overview of the Schemes, and the choices you have,

- get detailed information about the Fees and Expenses  and Performance

- compare Funds in a meaningful way based on similar investment profiles,

- compare the track record of the Fund Managers.

WHERE TO START

We suggest you start by reading this introduction by Amanda Morrall, our personal finance editor.

This website has a large and growing resource of searchable stories, how-to guides, tools, and data, all focussed on Kiwisaver

Your investment in Kiwisaver is a long-term one, part of your retirement assets. Therefore you should think about the choices you have from a longer term perspective. Just chasing short-term 'advantages' is not recommended.

What is recommended is to ...

- take financial planning for your future seriously,

- work out and understand your financial goals,

- work out your tolerance for risk and volatility,

- work with a properly qualified financial adviser whom you trust, if you are not confident of doing this yourself,

- build your Kiwisaver knowledge base so that you understand the choices and options when you review it with your adviser. This will also help you better assess how well they are helping you.

When you use the resources in this section, remember they are being continuously updated. We do not provide links to your personal Kiwisaver account - you will need to get that directly from your own Kiwisaver Scheme.
