Migration to Australia running at 125 a day

Migration statistics for July show an average of 125 New Zealanders migrated to Australia every day in the 12 months to the end of July. Net migration to Australia in the month of July of 2,659 was the highest ever for a July. The highest previous July was a net outflow of 2,619 in July 1988. Net migration for year to the end of July rose to 32,344, up from 31,923 in the year to June. The annual migration remains below the year to January 1989 record of 33,703. Net overall migration to New Zealand in July was +696, while migration for the year to July was 5,301, down from 8,966 in the previous corresponding year.
