NZ owned banks continue 100% success rate in monthly Roy Morgan Research customer satisfaction awards

Kiwibank and SBS Bank have again won the two bank categories in Roy Morgan Research's monthly New Zealand customer satisfaction awards, stretching the winning streak for New Zealand owned banks to 36 out of a possible 36.

Roy Morgan says Kiwibank was again Major Bank of the Month for May, a category for banks with at least 7.5% market share, and SBS Bank was May's Financial Institution of the Month.

Since Roy Morgan launched the awards in January of last year Kiwibank has received the major bank gong every month, as well as for the 2011 year, beating off its bigger, Australian owned rivals, - sister banks ANZ and National, ASB, BNZ and Westpac NZ.

In the financial institution category SBS has been dominant, winning in eight of the 12 months last year, the 2011 annual award, and four of the five months so far this year.

The Co-operative Bank has won three months and TSB Bank two, including January this year.

Other contenders for the financial institution award include Rabobank, Kiwibank, the big five Australian owned banks, AMP, Tower, AXA and GE Money.

Aside from the financial services sector, the awards also cover travel and tourism, retail, automotive, telecommunications and utilities. See all May's recipients here.
