- Increase GP funding by 13%, the equivalent of 2.5 million GP visits per year.
- Create an easier pathway for doctors trained in comparable overseas jurisdictions to practise in New Zealand. Currently, even a top Harvard doctor would have to be supervised for 6-18 months before being allowed to independently practise.
- Enable physician assistants to take on less complex tasks to take pressure off GPs.
- Give the Minister of Health the ability to override unnecessary red tape and bureaucracy.
- Increase the resilience of the healthcare system with intelligent forecasting of future requirements, improving upon current simplistic models.
- Establish Mental Health and Addiction NZ, a standalone agency on a national scale which would empower patients to choose between a range of providers rather than simply accepting what Health NZ offers.
- ACT would establish Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with large, global infrastructure developers and investors to build and upgrade our hospitals and healthcare facilities.
- Getting rid of the race-based Māori Health Authority
- Ending the use of race to prioritise surgical waitlists
- Stopping pharmacy initiatives only accessible to Māori and Pasifika
- An end to giving out race-based taxpayer-funded freebies – like prezzy cards for pregnant Māori women.
