An ANZ NZ 'customer data focused strategy' is based on 'customer needs analysis', CEO David Hisco says

By Gareth Vaughan

ANZ New Zealand, having had its ANZ-National Bank IT and brand mergers in place for a year, is now aiming to mine customer data to boost sales.

CEO David Hisco told interest.co.nz this "customer data focused sales strategy" was easier now the group has all its customers' data information on one core IT system, rather than spread across two.

"It just means that we're in a much better position now to fully understand everything you (customers) have got going with us, and it means we're in a better position to work out what we think might be the next single thing you need as to where you're at and what you're doing," said Hisco.

He also said that pulling mortgage pre-approvals for high loan-to-value ratio lending, as rival ASB did recently, was "a bit of a brand disaster."
