The election campaign may finally be almost over, but does this really just signal the end of the beginning with special votes and coalition negotiations still to come?

I spoke with Interest.co.nz's political correspondent Anna Whyte and our Wellington-based senior journalist Mandy Te about what they've seen out on the campaign trail with the politicians over the past few weeks, and what the mood's like heading into election day.

We also discuss what to look for on Saturday night when the vote counting gets underway in what the polls suggest could be an incredibly close election. Then there'll be the parties, coalition manoeuvering, special vote counting, the fallout, recriminations, and at some point we'll get a government.

We'll have live coverage on Interest.co.nz on Saturday night as the picture starts to become clearer, or will it?!

The sound quality for Anna recording at the start put me off listening as I found I had to work too hard concentrating on what the words were that she was saying.
