The rise and rise of ASB's net interest margins as it throws its growth of high LVR lending into reverse

A key feature of ASB's half-year financial results last week was the strong rise in the bank's net interest margins.

The 10 basis points rise, between June and December last year, saw the bank's net interest margins reach 2.35%. The increase continues a trend of steady increases over the past few years with ASB's net interest margin now up 34 basis points since topping 2% in June 2011.
