Harcourts auction rooms around the country were busy last week with prices starting at $197k for a house in Christchurch but nothing under $500k in Auckland

It was a big week in Harcourts auction rooms last week, particularly outside Auckland with a high number of properties put up for auction in the Bay of Plenty, Wellington and Christchurch.

In Auckland the cheapest home Harcourts sold at auction was a three bedroom, brick and tile townhouse in Mangere East that went for $500,000, and the most expensive was a four bedroom house at Somerville in the eastern suburbs that sold for $1.365 million.

In the central North Island prices started at $402,000 for a house at Mt Maunganui, and went up to $654,000 for a house at Bethlehem in Tauranga.

Several houses in the north of Wellington were auctioned by Harcourts last week, including a three bedroom/two bathroom house at Pukerua Bay (pictured), between Porirua and Paekakariki that went for $330,500. The original 1930s cottage had been extended and modernised and had large decks providing extensive sea views.

Harcourts auctioneers were also kept busy in Christchurch, where prices ranged from $197,000 for a house in Avondale that was sold "as is" to $1.205 million for a house in Fendalton.
