KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
NZX (NZX, #45) has appointed Hishaam Mirza as Chief Executive following a global search, with the experienced financial services executive set to begin the role on the 14th of September. Mirza spent 14 years at NZ Super, most recently leading Direct Investments, and has also held roles with IBM, BP, Lazard and EDF Energy.
EBOS Group (EBO, #11) reported a solid FY26 result, with revenue increasing +9.9% to A$13.5 bln and underlying EBITDA rising +5.0% to A$614 mln, supported by broad-based growth across its Healthcare and Animal Care businesses. Underlying NPAT fell -3.1% to A$250 mln, reflecting higher depreciation and financing costs, while statutory NPAT increased +4.7% to A$225 mln. EBOS also completed its four-year, A$360 mln distribution centre renewal programme, with the company entering FY27 with lower capital intensity, stronger cash generation and capacity for further growth investment, while maintaining its final dividend at 61.5 cents per share.
Fletcher Building (FBU, #13) returned to profitability in FY26, reporting group net profit after tax of $228 mln compared with a $419 mln loss a year earlier, while revenue from continuing operations rose +7.3% to $5.99 bln. EBIT before significant items increased to $414 mln from $329 mln, reflecting higher revenue across all divisions, although the board elected not to declare a final dividend for FY26.
Turners Automotive (TRA, #35) has maintained its FY27 target of $65 mln in pre-tax profit, although it warned that short-term market risks have increased as weaker consumer confidence and higher fuel prices weigh on demand for diesel and larger-engine vehicles. Group profit for the four months to July was 4% ahead of FY26, supported by a +7.5% increase in the finance loan book, while insurance and credit management remained broadly in line with the prior year. Turners said consignment units were down -14% year-to-date in July and vehicle margins had been impacted more than expected, but it remains confident in its longer-term strategy and $100 mln pre-tax profit target by FY31.
