HSBC ends six month home loan special to wealthy customers who also take out insurance

HSBC says it will end its special six month home loan rate, offered when wealthy borrowers also take out insurance with the bank, from next Monday, August 8.

HSBC introduced the 4.99% rate in February for its premier customers who also took out a home and contents insurance policy with the bank. To qualify for a premier loan customers must have either a minimum combined home loan of NZ$500,000 or NZ$100,000 in savings and investments.

The bank's premier customers can still get a 5.49% six month fixed mortgage rate, which has been on offer to customers who don't want insurance for the past few months. This rate is the lowest six month fixed-term rate advertised by a bank. See all bank mortgage rates here.
