The Opening Bell: Where currencies start for Thursday, September 26, 2013

The NZD/USD opens at 0.8240 this morning after a quiet night for markets last night.

Slightly better US Durable Goods and New Home Sales numbers last night – but markets range bound awaiting the US debt ceiling October 1 deadline.

The GBP strengthened against the USD ahead of this evening’s UK Current Account and GDP numbers, also this evening see’s US Unemployment Claims and GDP numbers.

Stock markets currently: Dow Jones -0.40%, S&P -0.27%, FTSE -0.3%.

The NZD opens the crosses - 0.8800 AUD, 0.6095 EUR, 0.5125 GBP, 81.20 JPY, 0.8505 CAD.
