The Opening Bell: Where currencies start for Friday, November 29, 2013

By Dan Bell

The NZD/USD opens around 0.8120 this morning following a quiet night across global markets with US markets closed for Thanksgiving.

The NZD lost more ground against the European currencies overnight with better than expected data from the EU and the UK.

The NZD opens at 0.8920 AUD, 0.4973 GBP, 0.5972 EUR, 83.07 JPY, and 0.8598 CAD.

Recent data from New Zealand continues to paint a rosy picture for the economy next year - business confidence highest since 1999, solid net positive migration, robust consumer spending, terms of trade at record highs and buoyant housing.

Today we get NZ Building Permits at 10:45am and not much to report this evening.
