The Opening Bell: Where currencies start for Thursday, January 23, 2014

The NZD/USD opens at 0.8300 having seen a high of around 0.8340 last night.

The AUD strengthened yesterday after a higher than expected CPI number - NZDAUD back below 0.9400 for the time being..

The GBP strengthened after better employment figures, and a narrower budget deficit - NZDGBP retesting 0.5000.

Stock markets currently: Dow Jones -0.18%, S&P +0.04%, FTSE -0.12%.

The NZD opens the crosses - 0.9385 AUD, 0.6130 EUR, 0.5010 GBP, 86.70 JPY, 0.9190 CAD.
