Kiwibank's special six-month home loan rate of 5.39% ends on Monday; Rate to rise back to 5.65%

Kiwibank's special six-month home loan rate of 5.39% will revert back to 5.65% from Monday.

Kiwibank announced the special rate on February 23, saying it would last for a limited period of time.

The move means Westpac now has the lowest regular advertised six-month rate of all the banks, with 5.59%. HSBC is offering 5.49%, but this is only for its premier customers.

Kiwibank's 5.65% is equal to rates offered by ANZ/National and HBS/SBS Bank. The Co-operative Bank is offering 5.70%, while BNZ, TSB, ASB and Kookmin are offering 5.75%.

BoE UK
"A statement released following the FPC's meeting on March 16 said: "The Committee remained concerned that capital was not yet at levels that would ensure resilience in the face of prospective risks and noted that the ability to make further progress via greater restraint of cash distributions was limited.
"It therefore advised banks to raise external capital as early as feasible".

ie. get you finger out and do something to encourage saving...doh!
