SBS Bank raises two fixed home loan rates, but maintains rate competitive position across most terms; also raises i-Save deposit rate

(Updated: The SBS 3 yr 'special' is still running.)

SBS Bank has this morning raised two fixed mortgage rates, and also raised some key savings rates at the same time.

Their six month fixed rate has been raised by +10 bps to 5.80%, up from 5.70%.

Their two year fixed rate has been raised by +21 bps to 6.20%, up from 5.99%.

No other SBS Bank mortgage rates have changed.

That leaves them with market-leading one year and eighteen month home loan offers of 5.85% and 5.99% respectively. Their five year fixed rate of 6.79% is also market-leading among banks.

It also leaves them with the best 3 year rate, a 5.95% 'special'.

The same changes apply to their sister brand HBS Bank.

At the same time, SBS Bank increased it's i-Saver online account to 3.25%, a rise of +25 bps. This is a rate that matches a number of other banks but is less than the HSBC E-Saver rate of 3.50%.

Wholesale markets bid up swap rates sharply last week, and the 90 day bank bill rate continued its steady rise, although there has been a very small pull-back in these wholesale rates this week so far.
